Things are Oat so Simple for 4 Front Farming

4 Front Farming fill over 10 million bowls with porridge each year thanks to their Fendt Tractors and Cupar climate!

4 Front Farming Ltd was established in 2016 when four farms came together and decided that teamwork makes the dream work. Today, the four farms share everything from their machinery to their labour and storage.

Located in Cupar, Fife, 4 Front Farm is a short journey away from two of their key affiliates, Quaker Oats and Diagio. Matt Waldie, Farm Manager, acknowledges, “We’re in a good location and we have the perfect climate for arable crops. We’re close to Quaker Oats and Diagio so we’re in the prime location.”

We place everything on our machinery

With over 3000 acres to farm, 4 Front Farming depends on their machinery as Matt shares, “We’re clocking over 2000 hours a year on our machines and we’ve got three staff, so we place everything on our machinery.” Downtime is a major cost and Matt is firm in his belief that their tractors need to be reliable.

I’ve been going to Reekie since I was born

Matt has a long-standing relationship with Reekie as he reveals, “I’ve been going to Reekie since I was born basically. We’ve had four generations with Reekie and still deal with them now as The Hamilton Ross Group.” The Hamilton Ross Group (Reekie) Cupar Depot is local to 4 Front Farm and Matt expressed that the locality of the depot as well as the scale of the business encourages him to continue dealing with the company, “They are the biggest dealership in the area,” he acknowledges. Having purchased their first Fendt in 2006, 4 Front Farming now run two Fendt 828 tractors and one 724 tractor. The Fendt Tractors are perfect for 4 Front Farm thanks to their ability and flexibility, “Everything is sized to power ratio, so we have our lighter tractors for lighter work and our heavier tractors for the main groundwork,” Matt explains. “The 65K box on one of them helps hauling on the road. Having a tractor that’s fast and safer on the road is important.”

Having mechanics on the road has been good

Matt admits that their residual value, reliability and warranty is what initially attracted him to the high-tech tractors. Aftersales support is equally as valuable to 4 Front and they have been pleased with the local support from the Cupar depot. “Having mechanics on the road has been good because they can pop in on their way to or home from work’, Matt shared. Also, Matt and his team have been pleased with the sales support at Cupar, stating: “I like Steven’s approach- he tells you like it is.” With plans to expand the business and maximise output, 4 Front Farming hope that they will continue to be as efficient as possible and utilise the new technology that the Fendt tractors offer with Matt adding, “the new technology makes the tractors job easier.”

The Hamilton Ross Group wish 4 Front all the best for the future!
