Robbie started his apprenticeship with Ross of Lanark aged 16 after growing up with a passion for agriculture, “I’ve always been into the agricultural sector. I loved the thought of driving or fixing tractors – and doing something I love” Robbie reveals.
The ALBAS (Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills) recognise and celebrate the achievements of trainees in Scotland’s rural sector. Winning an ALBAS Award has been a real stand out milestone in Robbie’s career as he shares, “I’m delighted to have won, I’m really proud of myself. It was good to get nominated but to actually win was just amazing.”
Being an apprentice engineer is a rewarding job and Robbie acknowledges, “I enjoy doing well and being interested in what I do. It’s great being able to fix tractors and get a customer back up and running and seeing the customer happy.”
The future is bright for Robbie who shares, “I always wanted to get this far, I’m going to keep going the way I’m going.”
