Our Story

Foundations For Growth At The Hamilton Ross Group

On March 1st, 2022, our company will be undergoing some exciting changes in terms of personnel and structure.

Firstly, I am delighted to announce that Jim Steel, who has been with the company 35 years, will become Sales Director for the group. Jim has been an incredible ambassador for the business since starting as a young man in the late eighty’s and he has been a key reason for our success over the past few decades. We thank him for all his tireless work to date and look forward to the future with him in this new directorship role.

Secondly, with three companies within the group (Daniel Ross, Hamilton Bros and Reekie Ltd), we are now looking to strengthen our foundations for future expansion. From March 1st, 2022, Reekie Ltd will undergo a business transfer with the Perth depot merging into Hamilton Bros and Cupar joining the Daniel Ross company in Lanark. Perth will operate under the Hamilton Bros name, whilst Daniel Ross will have a new trading name in R&R Machinery, paying tribute to the fantastic history of the Reekie and Ross names. Therefore, from March 1st, 2022, all new invoices will now be from Hamilton Bros for anything bought through Perth, and R&R Machinery for all items purchased at Cupar.

We will strive to make this a seamless transition for all customers, with the existing staff remaining in place and plans already in motion to add to the workforce as we continue to develop our business. Both Hamilton Bros and Daniel Ross have a long-established history in all the sectors that Reekie operates and merging the companies will enable us to use the groups resources as efficiently as possible. The group now employs over 140 staff, with more than fifty trained engineers and eighty vehicles on the road to meet the demands of our diverse customer base. We also have six depots across Scotland, with over £2.5m worth of spare parts stocked, helping support a wide variety of machinery. These changes are a building block towards our goal to use the groups’ structure to provide customers with the best possible product offerings and supporting aftersales services in the agricultural, groundcare and construction sectors.

In line with AGCO’s strategy, Hamilton Bros will remain the Massey Ferguson specialists, with R&R Machinery being the Fendt / Valtra specialists. This has already been in place for numerous years, with depot signage and other aspects reflecting this. Customers will still be able to receive the same level of service from both companies in the Hamilton Ross Group, be it next day delivery on parts for all AGCO brands at all locations, or servicing and repairs through the workshops and mobile service engineers. The group will serve the same geographical territories with all the brands currently sold, with plans to expand these areas going forward for both companies. We strive to put all customers and farmers first in everything we do, and we are eager to see both Hamilton Bros and R&R Machinery grow even further.

All of us within the Hamilton Ross Group are determined to continue providing customers with the best possible products and aftersales care in the industry, with these positive improvements to the group structure helping us towards this goal, strengthening our foundations for the future expansion of both companies. As our family business heads towards its 90th year of trading, we are excited for the future and how we can continue to put customers and farmers first for many more generations to come.

If you have any specific questions relating to these changes, please contact me directly on 01505 862010.

Kind regards,
