Our Story

Giving Back to the Community

The Hamilton Ross Group prides itself on being a family business at heart. Despite its growth through acquisitions over the years, it is still very much people-focused, and keeps on nurturing its links to the local community around each of its depots.

Dargavel Early Learning & Childcare Centre (Renfrewshire)

A few members of our staff have placed their children at the Dargavel Early Learning & Childcare Centre (Bishopton), so when the Head of Centre got in touch with us, we jumped at the opportunity to liaise with them.

On the morning of Monday 7th November, our Groundcare Sales Manager Thomas Connor and our Marketing Manager Justine Fourny took a Kubota L2-622 tractor down to the car park of the nursery. In groups of eight, and supervised by the practitioners, the kids were able to walk around the tractor, sit in it, and push some buttons – including the horn and the indicators.

It was amazing to see their personality shine through the experience: while some of them were keen beans from the start, others were slightly shyer – especially impressed by the size of the tyres, which were bigger than them! – but lit up as soon as they sat down in the cab.

Thomas Connor, Groundcare Sales Manager: “It was great getting out and helping the local nursery with one of their projects. The excitement in the kids’ faces and eagerness to tell us the names of various components on the tractor was brilliant. Hopefully pick up some new apprentices on the way…”

Royal Highland Educational Trust (Fife)

On Tuesday 8th November, our Product Specialist Michael Quinn, usually based at our Cupar depot, was helping at a RHET Fife event. Every year, the Royal Highland Educational Trust organises a food and farming day at Cluny Activity Centre in Kirkcaldy. Over two days, around 300 Primary 6 kids come along to learn about farming and where their food comes from. Mike brought a Fendt 314 tractor to show the kids of Rimbleton Primary School (Glenrothes), who also got the chance to have a seat in it.

Michael Quinn, Product Specialist: “It’s good fun to give something back to the community.”

It’s never too early to spark an interest in children towards a career in farming, groundcare and construction. We will be sure to organise more events around our other locations in the future, so stay tuned for further updates.

If you or someone you know has an interest in a career with the Hamilton Ross Group, please send your CV to [email protected] or visit our Indeed page.
