A spectacular sight greeted passers by around the rolling fields of Ayrshire recently when farming family Robin and Jane Hamilton and sons David, Hugh and Drew took delivery of a fleet of eight shiny new Massey Ferguson tractors – from their namesake, Hamilton Brothers of course!
The family all mucked in to select seven from the 6400 series and one from the 7400 series all chosen for their power, durability, and reliability, a prime factor given their sizeable dairy, livestock and arable enterprises at Barmoorhill and Smithfield Farms Tarbolton and Raith and Springbank Farms in neighbouring Monkton.
Cream of the crop is the flagship 6499 model. With its impressive power to weight ratio it will easily handle the Hamilton’s 32ft Lely Triplo mower which will fly through the 1500 acre forage crop. David selected the 7495 model for the flexibility of its vario transmission to work on the 650 acres of arable in jig time!
It’s almost 10 years since Hamilton Brothers Tarbolton Depot Manager George Harvie first met Robin and persuaded him to try Massey Ferguson machinery. Since then he’s been hooked. As well as optimum performance, a few years ago Massey also introduced a fixed price all inclusive three year contract, so instead of having to upgrade every two years, Robin now upgrades every three years, and with no additional outlay, the savings are substantial.
