Massey unveiled their cabbed 4700 Series at AgriTechnica. Is this a classic in the making?
One of the main attractions at this year’s AgriTechnica was the unveiling of the cabbed version of Massey Ferguson’s 4700 Series 75-95hp tractors. The ‘Global’ platform version of the 4700 range launched earlier this year to rave reviews and this latest development didn’t disappoint! Indeed, we reckon Massey may just have created their next classic as these ‘straightforward, rugged and reliable’ tractors could very well be a modern day 390 or 4255 in the making.
Massey claim that no other manufacturer in the sub 130hp power bracket can offer more value for money in terms of build specification, mechanisation, features, options and accessories, and few would argue. Firstly, it’s powered by the very latest AGCO 3.3 litre, 3 cylinder turbocharged Stage 3B emission compliant engine and an 82 litre fuel tank, so you can expect exceptional performance and economy as you work your 8-10 hour day in one stretch!
Secondly, the air conditioned high specification cab with panoramic visibility has been specifically designed for the new 4700 series and promises to provide sector leading comfort, control and functionality. Also worth a mention is the newly developed 12 x 12 synchromesh gearbox which will give you the ultimate efficiency for field, road or loader work and other boons include no complex operational procedures and the ease of maintenance and servicing.
The modular design concept means that these ‘workhorses of the world’ can be mass produced anywhere across the globe therefore they are readily available. Production of the cabbed range will start in January at Massey’s Beauvais plant in France so watch this space for details of our first demonstrator! We suspect this immensely versatile range of 21st century tractors from Massey Ferguson will become the new West of Scotland Workhorses for our stock farmers or even fleet operators.
