Tractor Homologation Explained… and a Huge Saving You’ll Want to Know About!

We explain everything you need to know about the new EU Legislative Regulations for Tractor Safety and offer you the chance to save up £4,000 on a MF 5610 Tractor!

Did you know that new EU Tractor Homologation Regulations were introduced this month? Under the Tractor Homologation ‘Mother Regulations’ all new tractors built in 2018 will be manufactured to meet new safety standards.

‘More complex legislation’, we hear you cry… but fear not, the Hamilton Ross Group are here to help you stay clued up on ‘the mother of all regulations’!

MF, Massey Ferguson, Massey, Tractor, Hamilton Brothers, Bishopton, ScotlandEuropean Tractor Homologation Explained

The new European Tractor Homologation is a certification allowing for ‘tractor type’ vehicles to be used for travelling and towing on public roads, assuming the driver has paid road tax and holds a valid license. This certification is subject to several safety requirements of the driving systems and physical attributes that affect road usage.

Despite their wide range of applications, tractors remain to be the central focus of the Mother Regulations. The most significant of the new requirements relates to braking systems and all 2018 built AGCO products (MF/Valtra & Fendt) will have a twin line hydraulic and a pneumatic system fitted as standard, as well as universal dashboard and information symbols, steps access and sheet metal subtle re-designs.

What Machines are Covered?

This new law came into play on the 1st of January 2018 and applies to all models of tractors and some telehandlers. This legislation also covers type-approval for farm trailers and other towed agricultural machinery. This differs from previous legislation as all interchangeable towed machinery is now subject to European regulations also.

Cost Considerations

Whilst the new legislation offers the mother of all protection in terms of safety, it does bring cost implications, resulting in a price increase.

Sadly, farming is the most dangerous industry and has one of the poorest safety records of any occupation in the UK, so we believe that it will bring greater long-term safety to our industry!

However, at the Hamilton Ross Group we also understand the expenses involved in farming and regarding this, we have some special offers in store for you!
