Animal Health Assistant/Advisor

The Hamilton Ross Group is one of Scotland’s leading suppliers of agricultural, groundcare, and construction machinery. We are looking for an Animal Health Assistant/Advisor to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare, with a strong interest in livestock animal health, and who enjoys working directly with customers to solve problems.

You will support the day-to-day running of our animal health operations, provide advice to customers both in person and over the phone, and assist the wider team with product selection, orders, production of Ear Tags and administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide informed, practical advice to customers on animal health products and best practice (within your level of qualification and competence).
  • Support the ordering, stocking and display of animal health products.
  • Take and process customer orders accurately via phone, email and in person.
  • Assist with checking and maintaining product records, batch numbers and expiry dates.
  • Work closely with colleagues across The Hamilton Ross Group to ensure a consistent, high-quality service.
  • Keep up to date with product information, seasonal health challenges and relevant industry developments.
  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and regulatory compliance in all work.

 

Requirements

About You

Essential:

  • Genuine interest in animal health and welfare of livestock
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Confident using basic IT systems email, order processing and Microsoft Office.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an agricultural merchant, veterinary practice, or animal health-related role.
  • Relevant qualification in agriculture, animal science, veterinary nursing or similar or working towards one.  SQP trained would be advantageous, but training would be provided.
  • Knowledge of common animal health products and routine health plans.
