Hamilton Ross Group are leading suppliers of Agricultural, Groundcare and Construction machinery across Central Scotland. We’re family-owned, trusted, and growing and our Lanark depot is looking for an enthusiastic Yard Operative / Valeter to join the team.

This is a hands-on, varied role working across the yard, workshop and forecourt to keep machinery moving, presented well and ready for our customers. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday with weekend availability required. If you’re organised, take pride in your work and enjoy staying active throughout the day, you’ll feel at home here.

Requirements

The Role

You’ll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the yard, supporting the team across deliveries, machine preparation and site presentation.

  • Loading and unloading lorries
  • Keeping accurate records of incoming and outgoing machinery
  • Ensuring all paperwork accompanying deliveries is signed and passed to the relevant people
  • Cleaning customer machinery prior to or following repairs
  • Cleaning and detailing new machinery to agreed standards
  • Preparing machines for hire or loan, including cleaning and checking fluid levels
  • Ensuring all relevant hire paperwork is completed and signed
  • Preparing for and taking photographs of new and second-hand machinery to agreed standards
  • Placing machinery in predefined areas according to the agreed yard plan
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and general appearance of the yard and forecourt
  • Keeping areas around skips and similar tidy and clear
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness inside the workshop where required
  • Delivering and uplifting customer machines by van or pick-up and trailer when required, subject to holding the appropriate licence

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong organisational skills
  • An enthusiastic attitude
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A trailer licence is preferred, though training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Technical knowledge of agricultural machinery is not essential but would be beneficial
  • A forklift licence would be beneficial
